A case of granuloma pyogenicum presenting as an intravascular mass: evaluation by ultrasonography

Abstract: haematoxylin and eosin staining nor at immunohistochemical examination. All patients are still alive, except one patient who is dead of another cause, and free of local or distant recurrence after a mean follow-up of 4 years.SLNB is thus far a procedure which remains controversial in patients with melanomas of Breslow thickness less than or equal to 1 mm usually considered as 'good prognosis' lesions. 2,7 However literature reports a rate of positivity of SLN from 0% to 9.5% in melanomas of Breslow thickness l… Show more

“…The literature search identified 55 papers, which were all reviewed. Thirty‐eight of these were relevant . It has been generally accepted that the paper by Cooper et al ., describing a series of 18 cases, was the first description of the lesion, but review of the earlier case report by Meyers suggests that he was the first to identify the pathology.…”

“…We searched PubMed from January 1979 to August 2020 for "intravascular lobular capillary hemangioma" and "intravascular pyogenic granuloma," which yielded 44 papers, including nine reports on ultrasonography. [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16][17] Grayscale ultrasonographic features of ILCH were almost uniformly described as a well-defined mass within the lumen of a vein, except for one case where ultrasound failed to identify the host blood vessel. 12 Although some lesions were reported as iso-echoic, most were mainly hypoechoic.…”
