A Case of Intractable Otitis Media: Eosinophilic Otitis Media

Abstract: Dear Editor,The term eosinophilic otitis media (EOM) was first used by Tomioka et al. (1) to describe bronchial asthma-related, treatment-resistant, eosinophil-enriched cases with viscous middle ear effusion. Diagnostic criteria for EOM were established after a multicentre analysis conducted in Japan in 2011. The major criterion is otitis media with effusion or chronic otitis media with eosinophil-dominant effusion.
