“…However, rodent cells are prone to spontaneous immortalization during long-term culture [Todaro and Green, 1963;Aaronson and Todaro, 1968], and our established DFAT cell lines derived from mice have become immortalized and aneuploid [Yagi et al, 2004;Nobusue et al, 2008]. In addition, adipocyte differentiation in rodent preadipocyte cell lines does not always reflect that in other species [Tomlinson et al, 2006;Sanosaka et al, 2008], and the differentiation pattern of primary human preadipocytes and contribution of glucocorticoids to these events differ from the responses observed in rodent preadipocyte cell lines [Tomlinson et al, 2006].…”

“…Neutral lipids (triacylglycerol or triglycerides) of muscle meat are rich in saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) and found in the i.m. adipocytes located in the perimysium (Sanosaka et al, 2008). Adipocyte number and size increase with the total lipid content of the muscle (Mourot & Hermier, 2001;Wood et al, 2008).…”

“…To induce differentiation, the preadipocytes were seeded in 6-well cell plates (Corning, Corning, NY, USA) at a density of 30.0×10 4 cells/well to obtain confluence. After reaching confluence, the medium was changed to adipogenic medium modified from previous report [27], which contained 50 nM insulin, 50 nM dexamethasone, 50 μM oleate and 0.5 mM octanoate and DMSO or 50 μM phloretin in DMEM/F12 supplemented with 5% FBS. Dexamethasone, insulin, oleate, octanoate, phloretin and DMSO were all purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (St. Louis, MO, USA).…”
