Growing interest in improving the quality of student’s research activity in higher education has led to an emphasis on student-supervisor interaction in joint research activity. The study presented here was carried out in Tyumen State University, Tyumen, Russia. The participants were 30 supervisors and 60 students from the Pedagogical Institute. The study defined student and supervisor interaction problems and characterized the ways of student-supervisor interaction that reduce student’s motivation for a creative approach to writing research work when student’s research work is perceived as (1) supervisor’s burden, (2) a source of supervisor’s innovative ideas, (3) a source of additional information or (4) a source of primary information processing for supervisor’s scientific work. Implications are given to prevent ineffective ways of student-supervisor interaction and improve the quality of student’s research training in multi-level university education.

The article considers the formation of specific models of professional competences of the specialist, based on the requirements of the professional community in the conditions of the modern market. An analysis of the normative and legal framework imposing the necessary requirements to the content of educational programs of the university was carried out. The features of the competency-based approach, which affects systemic changes in the educational sphere of Russia and affects all aspects of its activity: organization of the educational process, interaction of all allocated levels in the education system, development of a new system of evaluation funds according to the level of formation of the required competences, are identified.

This paper underscores the pressing need to address educational challenges in Kazakhstan. The government's educational system development policy seeks to comprehensively modernize education across all levels emphasizing innovative teaching methods and tools. A crucial responsibility that necessitates the development of effective procedures and methods is ensuring the efficacy of educational programmes. This research employs both theoretical methods (such as analysis, generalization and classification) and empirical methods (including surveys and mathematical statistics) to investigate this topic. The statistical significance of the results can be determined by applying the student's t-test after the survey data has undergone mathematical processing. This rigorous approach adds credibility to the findings and enhances the reliability of the research. This paper posits that internal monitoring of educational programs yields significant insights into educational quality. This approach evaluates indicators related to student satisfaction and learning outcomes, recognizing that program quality is dynamic and influenced by evolving educational needs, teacher competence and material and technical infrastructure. In a nutshell, educational program monitoring assumes a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of education in Kazakhstan. This monitoring system contributes to continuous efforts to modernize and align the education system with changing demands and standards by evaluating learning results and student satisfaction. This provides valuable information for programme enhancement.
