The urbanization process has brought several advances to society, but due to the lack of urban planning, the water resources present inside the cities have not been cared for, an example being the irregular occupations in the Permanent Preservation Area (APP). The alteration of the environment due to disordered urban occupation, such as riverbanks, streams and drainage channels, has several consequences on the quantitative and qualitative aspects of water and land use. River basins are used as a planning and management unit for the improvement of various water uses, so integration between the public sector, the private sector, the university and users in general is essential for sustainable management that ensures better quality of water resources. for present and future generations. This paper intends to analyze the problems developed by the disordered urban occupation in João Cesário Stream. Located in the city of Anápolis-GO, near the Antonio Marmo Canedo Environmental Park, its entire stretch is in the urban region with the presence of residences, condominiums and commercial establishments. According to the Municipal Secretariat of the Environment, the course of the stream is a Permanent Protection Area (APP), and its area should be protected, but the presence of vacant land with internal accumulation is common and only in small sections is it possible to find the riparian forest. preserved. Comparisons were made of the increase in urbanization over time and a reading of the current reality of occupation in the course of João Cesário stream.
