A framework for efficient regression tests on database applications

Abstract: Regression testing is an important software maintenance activity to ensure the integrity of a software after modification. However, most methods and tools developed for software testing today do not work well for database applications; these tools only work well if applications are stateless or tests can be designed in such a way that they do not alter the state. To execute tests for database applications efficiently, the challenge is to control the state of the database during testing and to order the test ru… Show more

“…Because nodes labeled "8" exist in both G and G , they are matched nodes. However, P ropOut(8) = P ropOut(8 ) (line 12): P ropOut (8) in G is { 8, 10, p2 } whereas P ropOut(8 ) in G is { 8, 9, p2 }. Thus, lines 13-15 are invoked.…”

“…We eliminated redundant queries that used the same ontology terms and logical operators, which resulted in 1331 unique test queries that we used as our test suite for the studies. We also measured the coverage achieved by this test suite in terms of the ontology classes that it exercises, directly and indirectly, 8 and found that it covers 99.99% of the i2b2 ontology entities, as reported in Table 3. Our collaborators within the AIW project confirmed that these public test queries are structurally similar to those used during the development of the AIW project.…”
