A mass‐conserving level‐set method for simulation of multiphase flow in geometrically complicated domains

Abstract: SUMMARYThe mass-conserving level-set (MCLS) method is a hybrid level-set (LS)/volume of fluid (VoF) based, interface capturing algorithm that combines the mass conserving properties of the VoF, with the benefits of having an explicit description of the interface of the LS method. The efficiency of the method is a result of the fact that the LS formulation allows evaluation of the VoF-field and VoF-fluxes without reconstruction of the interface in each cell. We present the extension of the MCLS method from its … Show more

“…The multiwavelet troubled-cell indicator is applied both using the parameter C and with the outlier-detection approach. For the tests, the Matlab code of Hesthaven and Warburton is used [8], which is extended to the advection equation together with the vertex-based limiter by Raees et al [13].…”

“…Various studies have proposed different methodologies for improving mass conservation of the LS method 21,22,23,18,24,25,26,27,28,29,30,31,32 . The particle level set (PLS) in 18 is a semi-lagrangian level set method based on the advection of particles at both sides of the interface.…”
