A Metal Enhanced Flow-Injection Chemiluminescence Method for the Rapid Determination of Norfloxacin in Pharmaceutical Formulations and Serum Sample

Abstract: A simple and highly sensitive chemiluminescence method to determine norfloxacin (NFLX) has been proposed by measuring the chemiluminescence (CL) intensities using a flow injection (FI) system. The CL intensity of the luminol-H2O2 system is strongly enhanced by the addition of Cu (II) in alkaline condition. The CL intensity is substantially increased after the injection of NFLX into the luminol-H2O2-Cu (II) system. The enhancement effect is attributed to a catalytic effect of Cu (II) due to the interaction with… Show more

“…Recently, the methods for norfloxacin residue analysis in foodstuff and environment are generally based on chromatographic techniques (Hubicka et al 2013;Ulu 2012;Sher et al 2010;Hancu et al 2012;Liu et al 2010;Solangi et al 2009;Yang et al 2008;Alnajjar et al 2007), spectrophotometry (Yi et al 2011;Basak et al 2010), electrochemiluminescence (Kamruzzaman et al 2011;Sun et al 2009), and immunoassay (IA). Currently, IA has been proven to be a sensitive and reliable method, in which, except for the traditional immunoanalytical methods (Cui et al 2011;Sheng et al 2011;Liu et al 2013;Fan et al 2012), surface plasmon resonance biosensor immunoassay (Huet et al 2009;Marchesini et al 2007) and immunoaffinity chromatographic (Zhao et al 2009) methods are also available for the determination of norfloxacin in food samples.…”

“…The luminol-H 2 O 2 CL method is a well-known method of detection in the field of analytical chemistry. Many CL systems that employ H 2 O 2 as an oxidant have been developed (25,26). H 2 O 2 plays a vital role by its oxidative action to produce a luminophore (3-aminopthalate ion) from luminol.…”
