A New Green Analytical Procedure for Monitoring Sub-nanogram Amounts of Chlorpyrifos on Fruits Using Flow Injection Chemiluminescence with Immobilized Reagents

Abstract: A novel green method using flow injection chemiluminescence with controlled-reagent-release technology has been investigated for the rapid and sensitive monitoring of sub-nanogram amounts of chlorpyrifos. The analytical reagents involved in chemiluminescence (CL) reaction, luminol and periodate, were both immobilized on an anion-exchange column. The CL signals produced by the reaction between luminol and periodate, which were eluted from the column through water injection, were decreased in the presence of chl… Show more

“…Fresh tangerines and oranges purchased from local market were used for the determination of remnant ICP on the surface of fruits, and the sample solutions were prepared following the reported procedures (Song, Hou, & Zhang, 2002). The tangerines (oranges) were first cleaned up by water and placed separately into graduated cylinders (1L) containing 250 mL solution of ICP (1.0 lg mL -1 ) respectively for 2 min.…”

“…For example, in the determination of chlorpyrifos (Song 2002) periodate was the oxidant chosen. It was immobilized together with luminol on an anion-exchange resin; the method was applied to the determination of this pesticide in fruit without need of SPE systems or ionic exchange columns.…”

“…Chemiluminescence (CL) has received considerable attention due to its high sensitivity, wide linear range and simple instrumentation. Although many CL reactions have been applied for pesticide residues analysis, the relatively low selectivity of the CL method itself limits its direct application to the pesticide residue analysis in the environmental samples (9–12). Therefore, it still remains a great challenge to develop a rapid, sensitive and inexpensive but selective method for the detection of pesticide residue in the environment.…”
