A new method for CDP input parameter identification of the ABAQUS software guaranteeing uniqueness and precision

Abstract: Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a new method for determining the input parameters of the concrete damaged plasticity (CDP) model of ABAQUS standard software. The existing available methods in the literatures are case sensitive, i.e., they give different input parameters of CDP for a unique concrete class used in different finite element (FE) simulation of concrete structures. In this study, the authors attempt to introduce a new approach for the identification of the input parameters of the CDP… Show more

“…The Concrete Damaged Plasticity (CDP) model is implemented for the simulation of the concrete behavior [25,26]. The plasticity input parameters, compressive, and tensile behavior input parameters used in the CDP model are outlined in Tables 1-3, respectively [27][28][29][30][31]. The plastic parameters in Table 1 are the optimized parameters and they are selected based on the previous studies of the author [16,27,28].…”

“…Five plasticity parameters need to be inputted on the ABAQUS software, that is the ratio of biaxial/uniaxial compressive strength (boco), flow potential eccentricity (), deviatoric stress invariant ratio (Kc), viscosity parameter (µ), and dilation angle (). Parameters µ and  have a certain value according to the characteristics of the concrete used, and its adjustment or calibration is essential (Birtel and Mark (2006), Cohen (2018), Genikomsou (2015), Genikomsou and Polak (2016), Hafezolghorani et al (2017), Labibzadeh et al (2017)). Meanwhile, the other parameters, values were adjusted by ABAQUS.…”

“…determined the relationship of compression strain stress and tensile in inelastic conditions with the appropriate concrete damage plasticity. CDP is one of the constitutive models used to define the complex behaviour of concrete material during degradation, pressures and pulls(Genikomsou & Polak (2016),Grassl & Jirásek (2006),Hafezolghorani et al (2017),Labibzadeh et al (2017)). CDP parameters in the ABAQUS program consist of damage and plasticity parameters.…”

“…Labibzadeh (2015) and Labibzadeh and Elahifar (2015) have employed the CDP model for the numerical simulation of the strengthened RC slabs with CFRPs and calibrated the input parameters using some different tests such as biaxial compression test, three-point bending concrete beam test and four-point bending reinforced concrete beam test. Labibzadeh et al (2017a) presented a new method for finding the optimum values for input parameters of the CDP model which can guarantee the uniqueness and the precise of the obtained results. They suggested the use of the results of the different standard tests of the concrete for the calibrating the input parameters of the CDP model.…”
