A New Method for the Determination of γ-Glutamyltransferase in Serum

Abstract: A new, simple and sensitive method is described for assay of serum γ-glutamyltransferase activity based on the hydrolysis of the substrate Z,-7-glutamyl-3-carboxy-4-nitranilide which offers the advantage of producing directly its own chromogen. The substrate is highly soluble and the method can therefore easily be adapted to any equipment for the automated assay of γ-glutamyltransferase.The activities at measured optimum substrate concentration are slightly higher than with the Szasz ((1969), Clin. Chem. 15,124… Show more

“…Gamma-glutamyltranferase (GMT, as an indicator of liver function) was biochemically determined in serum using Bio-La-test gamma-glutamyltransferase -GMT L250 kit (Erba Lachema, Brno, Czech Republic) on XL -200 analyser (Erba Mannheim, Mannheim, Czech Republic). Catalytic concentration of GMT was measured according to Persijn and Vanderslik (1976).…”

“…Only L-γ -glutamyl-p-nitroanilide has been retained for routine use [20,24]. γ -GT activity is generally measured with L-γ -glutamylp-nitroanilide as the donor of the γ -glutamyl moiety and glycylglycine as the acceptor substrate.…”
