A radio continuum study of the Magellanic Clouds. IVa. Catalogue of radio sources in the Large Magellanic Cloud at 2.30 GHz$^{\bf (\lambda=13 cm)}$

Abstract: Abstract. -We present a new catalogue of radio sources in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) based on observations at 2.30 GHz with the Parkes radio telescope. A total of 119 sources have been detected. We compare positions and flux densities of these sources with previously published radio results and find no significant positional displacement or flux discrepancies.

“…Wright et al (1994) catalogued SNR J0450-709 as PMN J0450-7050 based on their observations within Parkes-MIT-NRAO (PMN) surveys at 4850 MHz. Filipović et al (1995Filipović et al ( , 1996 added further confirmation with a set of radio-continuum observations (with Parkes telescope) over a wide frequency range. Filipović et al (1998a), using ROSAT All Sky Survey (RASS) observations, did not detect X-ray emission from SNR J0450-709.…”

“…In addition, a 36 cm Molonglo Synthesis Telescope (MOST) mosaic image (as described in Mills et al 1984) was used. We note that the former surveys (i.e., those from the ATCA) included a zero-spacing measurement from the single 64-m Parkes dish (Filipović et al, 1995(Filipović et al, , 1997, while the latter MOST image did not. This resulted in missing short spacings at λ = 36 cm, and therefore, the potential for missing flux may be an issue, especially for larger remnants.…”
