A Review of Gene Expression in Porcine Endometrial Lymphocytes, Endothelium and Trophoblast During Pregnancy Success and Failure

Abstract: Abstract. Meat pig breeds used commercially in North America lose significant numbers of geneticallynormal fetuses in the peri-implantation (attachment) period and at mid-gestation (day 50 of the114 day gestation interval). Fetal demand that is in excess to the placental blood supply is thought to underlie these waves of fetal loss. In many species, the endometrium of early normal pregnancy is enriched in innate immune cells, particularly uterine natural killer (uNK) cells. In pigs, a species with epitheliocho… Show more

“…Thus, the lack of direct contact of the myometrium with embryonic secretes and weak myometrial production of estrogens during early pregnancy may result in local "downregulation" of OTR mRNA in the myometrium. Moreover, growth factors and cytokines secreted by embryos during the periimplantation period [59][60][61] indicate a possible influence on OTR gene expression in uterine tissues.…”

“…Several hypotheses related to potential functions of these cells are raised by detailed studies conducted in humans and mice, species that have hemochorial placentas (TAYADE et al, 2007). In this study bovines showed greater expression of CD335+ cells during the end of pregnancy.…”

“…Any factors resulting in angiogenesis blocked in final would induce fetus loss in many species including humans, pigs, mice (Tayade et al, 2007). Accordingly, whether Curcuma zedoaria causes it through inhibiting angiogenesis is worth to be investigated.…”
