A Short Discussion on the Gravitational Redshift in the Light of an Alleged Local Variability of the Planck Constant

Abstract: The aim of this paper fundamentally lies in proposing an alternative explanation to the so-called gravitational redshift. The above-mentioned phenomenon, experimentally verified more than half a century ago, is commonly legitimised by means of Special Relativity. In our case, since time is considered as being absolute, we simply postulate a local variability of the Plank constant. Ultimately, we carry out an alternative deduction of the relation that expresses the gravitational redshift as a function of a para… Show more

“…To explain the above-mentioned phenomenon, experimentally verified more than half a century ago, we hypothesize a local variability of the Planck constant (Kentosh et al, 2012a(Kentosh et al, , 2012bFlambaum et al, 2012) and impose, very intuitively, the conservation of energy (Cataldo, 2017a). Up until now, we have tacitly accepted the fact that mass is capable to warp space.…”

“…Nonetheless, we are well aware of the fact that a bi-dimensional surface represents nothing but a pure abstraction, and the above-mentioned sheet is evidently characterized by a thickness, whose value in no case should be considered as being null. We have to imagine the Planck constant as being linearly dependent on the dimensional thickness that, in turn, is linearly dependent on the radial coordinate (Cataldo, 2017a). In this way, by assigning a new meaning to the parameter usually identified with a Schwarzschild coordinate (our parameter does not represent a distance nor a radius of curvature) (Cataldo, 2017d), imposing the conservation of energy, we can obtain, without using General Relativity, the well-known expression for the Gravitational Redshift.…”

“…If we impose that the measure of the predicted radius must remain the same (if we assign a greater value to the "quantum of space"), we have to consequently increase the value of the proper radius. Obviously, in order to keep the speed of light constant, we are forced to assign a smaller value to the "quantum of time" (in particular, the more we approach the singularity, the more time must flow slowly) [7] [8].…”
