“…The London Dermatological Society was founded at St John's Hospital in 1911 (renamed the St John's Hospital Dermatological Society in 1926, with Transactions changing to match in 1927), and Transactions reported the cases presented at their clinical meetings and lectures. There were no issues of the journal from 1939 to 1952, except for a volume in 1949 covering the period between 1947–49 . After the Second World War, Transactions started publishing original research, becoming established as the third British dermatology journal after Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Diseases of the Skin, a Quarterly Record of Dermatological Science (published by John Churchill and Sons of London, founded in 1867 by Sir Erasmus Wilson) and the British Journal of Dermatology and Syphilology (published by Messrs H. K. Lewis of Gower Street, London, founded in 1888 by Malcolm Morris and Henry Brooke with support from the Dermatological Society of London).…”

“…In 1999, CED became a sister journal of the British Journal of Dermatology , with the BAD beating off competition from the Royal College of Physicians to run the journal. Editors were then accepted from institutions other than St John's Hospital (Table ), and subscription was offered to all BAD members. Advertising campaigns and efforts to increase the journal's profile were successful and it continues to attract scientific and clinical articles, developing an educational theme to support continuous professional development.…”
