A study of the diagnostic value of Inhibin A Tests for occurrence of preeclampsia in pregnant women

Abstract: BackgroundHypertensive disorders are common during pregnancy, and are among 3 important causes of maternal death. Preeclampsia occurs in 3 to 5% of pregnancies. Early diagnosis of this disorder can lead to better pregnancy outcomes.ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to determine the relationship between inhibin A serum levels during second stage pregnancy screening tests, and incidence and severity of preeclampsia.MethodsIn this study, 300 pregnant women who referred to Kowsar Hospital and carried out second s… Show more

“…PE is responsible for the deaths of more than 500, 000 neonates, fetuses, and 70, 000 maternal deaths worldwide, with a global incidence rate of 2%∼8% [ 1 ]. Severe pre-eclampsia can be followed by placental abruption, eclampsia, HELLP syndrome (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count syndrome), and even multiple systemic organ damage [ 2 ]. At present, the pathogenesis of PE is thought to be related to abnormal placental formation.…”

“…Refer to Table 3 for specific markers used in each case group b Second Trimester (T2) Biochemical Markers: AFP, uE3, hCG, PAPP-A, PlGF. Refer to Table 3 by others [18]. We suspect this is due to the small number of early PE pregnancies involved in our study.…”

“…A study from Iran in 2018 by the Broumand et al . [ 23 , 24 ] group established Inhibin A MoM = 1.25 in the second trimester had significantly associated with PE (sensitivity = 83.83%) in 300 pregnant women. However, they have considered only inhibin as one biomarker and PE in one adverse outcome in account for association establishment in limit.…”
