“…Hibbert 21 reported that the incidence of rhinosinusitis symptoms such as nasal discharge, cough, headache, and mouth-breathing in patients who had undergone adenoidectomy was similar to that in normal children. Our findings were consistent with data obtained from Fukuda et al, 18 Wang et al, 20 and Hibbert,21 confirming that there seems to be no correlation between the degree of adenoid vegetation and the extent of chronic sinusitis. Lee and Rosenfeld 22 postulated that Haemophilus influenzae, group A β-hemolytic streptococci, and Staphylococcus aureus were the most frequent pathogens encountered in adenoid tissue, and that there was a correlation between these pathogens and sinonasal infection symptom scores.…”
