“…However, Al 3+ was not completely neutralized in AC9 and PE soil samples with the dose used (100% of H+Al content). The incomplete Al 3+ neutralization in these two soils may have occurred due to underestimation of potential acidity by calcium acetate, since other Al fractions may not have been computed in H+Al, resulting in incorrect estimation of lime requirements (Kaminski et al, 2002;Júnior et al, 2015). It could also be related to the lime not neutralizing other forms of Al, which may have been extracted by the KCl solution and computed as exchangeable after base titration.…”

“…Inicialmente, o método da solução tampão SMP foi desenvolvido para estimar a necessidade de calagem do solo (Nascimento, 2000), critério utilizado nos estados Rio Grande do Sul e Santa Catarina, onde a quantidade de calcário é estimada com base em uma tabela com valores do índice SMP para elevar o pH do solo à um valor de referência desejado (CQFS, 2016). Contudo, devido à elevada correlação entre os valores de pH SMP e os teores de H+Al determinados com acetato de cálcio pH 7,0 (Raij, 1989;Gama, 1998;Nolla e Anghinoni, 2004) e também à facilidade, rapidez e eficácia na estimativa da acidez potencial (Steiner et al, 2009;Almeida Júnior et al, 2015), laboratórios de diversos países, inclusive do Brasil tem utilizado o pH SMP como um procedimento regular para estimar a acidez potencial em substituição do método acetato de cálcio 0,5 mol L -1 . Em um estudo de Sambatti et al (2003) Para Sambatti et al (2003) e Toledo et al (2012), esse método SMP apresenta rapidez, simplicidade, praticidade analítica, fácil reprodução e custo baixo para execução, sendo ainda preciso e eficiente.…”
