The electron avalanche statistics for a single and multielectron initiation and a fixed number of initiating electrons is successfully described by a geometric and a single negative binomial distribution (NBD). However, the number of initiating electrons may have a statistical distribution, either stationary or variable with time. When the emission of initiating electrons is a homogeneous (stationary) and an inhomogeneous (non-stationary) Poisson process, the weighted mixtures of NBDs for electron avalanche statistics are applied and discussed. The proposed statistical model is tested by the means of Monte Carlo simulation of avalanche size distributions when the initial electrons obey Poisson distribution and a good agreement is found.
