Active queue management via event-driven feedback control

Abstract: Active Queue Management (AQM) is investigated to avoid incipient congestion in gateways to complement congestion control run by the transport layer protocol such as the TCP. Most existing work on AQM can be categorized as (1) ad-hoc event-driven control and (2) time-driven feedback control approaches based on control theory. Ad hoc event-driven approaches for congestion control, such as RED (Random Early Detection), lack a mathematical model. Thus, it is hard to analyze their dynamics and tune the parameters. … Show more

“…In addition to such well-recognized algorithms as REM (Athuraliya et al 2001), PI (Hollot et al 2002;Wu et al 2001), BLUE (Feng et al 2002), GREEN (Wydrowski and Zukerman 2002) and AVQ (Kunniyur and Srikant 2004), several other propositions emerged recently, e.g. (Na et al 2012;Suzer et al 2012;Farzaneh et al 2013;Kahe et al 2013). The new algorithms are usually evaluated either by means of simulators (ns2, ns3), or by means of the control theory.…”

“…Frassanito and Pettorini (2008) have pointed out that genderdefined application of pink and blue is relatively exclusive to Western culture. Moreover, many studies suggest that there is no conclusive knowledge about the fixed gendercolor preferences across different cultures (Jadva et al, 2010;Paoletti, 2012;Wong and Hines, 2015;Zhan and Dan, 2015;Jonauskaite et al, 2019).Therefore, it is worthy to explore how pink and blue are gender-symbolically represented by Chinese people.…”

“…Optimal control models find optimal rules to control congestion while maintaining throughput in many production, service, or transportation systems. Several control techniques, such as feedback control (Suzer et al, 2012), adaptive control (Kuo, 2006). Among the present optimal control policies, threshold policies have been investigated by many researchers (Feinberg and Kella, 2002;Piunovskiy, 2004;Ghosh and Weerasinghe, 2010;Zhou and Lian, 2011).…”
