Given the urgent needs we face regarding Inclusion in Chemical Education (ICE), it is ever more evident that teachers worldwide need new perspectives to provide solutions for a more accessible, critical, and assistive education process. This work aims to propose a new pictorial representation, the Triangular Bipyramid Metaphor (TBM), for the awareness of Inclusion in Chemical Education (ICE). This new metaphor is depicted as a having a triangular bipyramidal shape with five levels of instruction: (1) symbolic or representational, (2) sub-microscopic or model, (3) macroscopic or phenomenological, (4) human aspect or context, and (5) inclusion. In short, TBM was created as a new perspective of the Mahaffy’s metaphor for working with students and the public. We hope that TBM could be useful for creating and developing novel solutions through interdisciplinary and comprehensive collaborations, providing new resources for ICE.

Due to the scarcity of studies on culturally responsive teaching in secondary school chemistry education, the goal of this study was to establish chemistry teachers' beliefs about the role of culture in chemistry class and their ways of considering and engaging in it. Seven secondary school chemistry teachers were interviewed. The data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis against the backdrop of structuralist and poststructuralist conceptions of culture. The teachers regarded culture in general as an enrichment in school and many of them showed a very nuanced concept of culture, comprising both structuralist and poststructuralist elements. However, they accorded only minor importance to the impact of culture on chemistry teaching and learning and tended to employ only a structuralist view of culture in their chemistry classroom. This creates tensions in their teaching and could be a source of discriminatory practices in chemistry class. It is argued that chemistry-specific approaches to culturally relevant science teaching need to be developed and implemented in secondary school teacher education to support teachers' equitable chemistry teaching in secondary school. Implications for chemistry education research and teaching are discussed.

To create meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences, game-based learning has gained popularity for fostering sustained learning across all age groups. In response, the "Chemical Element Lotto" was developed as an adaptation of the traditional Mexican game "Loteri ́a" to help students familiarize themselves with the periodic table. Beyond promoting diversity and multicultural engagement, this game encourages the identification of chemical elements in the periodic table and understanding of their most important applications and properties. The game, available in English and Spanish, also highlights the history and etymology of the elements' names, as well as their abundance on Earth and in space. The effectiveness and engagement level of "Chemical Element Lotto" was assessed through a study involving 63 undergraduate students from the Facultad de Qui ́mica at Universidad Nacional Autońoma de Mexico (UNAM). Pre-and postexaminations were conducted to evaluate the students' familiarity with the periodic table elements and their basic characteristics before and after playing the game. The methodology used has been validated with a Table of Specifications (TOS) and results showed significant improvement, as evidenced by a Student's t test analysis. Additionally, Likert-type and User Engagement Scale surveys were administered to assess the game's playability, content, usefulness, and engagement. The findings suggest that the "Chemical Element Lotto" initiative was well-received by the student population, demonstrating its potential as an effective educational tool.
