Abstract: Hydrous and photosynthetic adaptations of common and durum wheat to saline stress. Seven varieties of bred wheat and seven varieties of durum wheat were cultivated in three different sites from the area of Errachidia (southeastern Morocco). These sites differ by the degree of salinity in the irrigation water. Results obtained showed that the reduction in leaf area is the principal strategy that makes it possible to attenuate the effects of the reduction in the availability of water under saline stress.

“…To calculate the deposition at a given level (i) in the canopy, authors proposed a capture coefficient Ki depending on that level. In the literature, the measurement of the leaf area index could be direct, for example by using an optical planimeter (Alem et al, 2002), or indirectly by measuring the light energy incident under the leaves with a radiometer. This method is faster than the direct one, but it is not accurate and it requires specific hardware.…”

“…The climate change is a factor responsible for the decline in production in all crops (Ram and Kaur, 2020). Water is the major factor limiting wheat crop yield in semi-arid area of Algeria (Chennafi et al, 2006;Alem et al, 2002). In high plateau regions, the agriculture is mostly rainfed (Sebbane et al, 2023).…”
