Adoption of renewable energy sources, low‐carbon initiatives, and advanced logistical infrastructure—an step toward integrated global progress

Abstract: This study aims to empirically evaluate the effect of low carbonation, crime rate, and logistical infrastructure on tourism and economic development of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) tourist countries through structural equation modeling for the sample period from 2011 to 2019. The proposed model presented six hypotheses among four constructs that suggest that logistic performance and renewable energy consumption positively affect tourism, whereas the crime rate harms tourism in ASEAN count… Show more

“…The manufacturing industry in these countries are serving them towards industrialized economy (Gandhi et al, 2021;Hu et al, 2020) and posing a threat to environmental sustainability from their business operations such as utilization of dispensable packaging materials, fossil energy and toxic material, excess carbon emission, and traffic congestion (Sahoo & Vijayvargy, 2021;Waheed et al, 2020;Khan et al, 2021b;Wisner et al, 2014). In such a situation, moving towards green/environmental practices, monitoring business operations, and enhancing green capabilities (GC) can have a crucial role in managing the imbalance caused because of industrial activities.…”

“…The innovation and promotion of renewable energy can curb carbon dioxide emissions, help the government develop clean industries, and achieve carbon neutrality goals (Balsalobre-Lorente et al, 2021), while having a positive impact on economic development (Khan et al, 2021b). Bekun et al (2021) believes that sustainable economic growth can be achieved by developing clean technologies and increasing the share of renewable energy in the energy structure.…”

“…In addition to the above discussed results-based policy implications, technological innovation [65,66], transition to renewable and better energy options [67,68], reallocation of industries based on regional carbon efficiencies [69], and targeting of final demand's socio-economic drivers [70,71] may help in economic progress and reduction of the overall fossil fuel consumption. Therefore, these dimensions can also be researched in sectoral demand-and-supply chain embedded fossil fuel consumption works.…”
