Altered physiochemical properties in industrially synthesized ZnO nanoparticles regulate oxidative stress; induce in vivo cytotoxicity in embryonic zebrafish by apoptosis

Abstract: This study investigates the in vivo cytotoxicity of ZnO nanoparticles synthesized at industrial scale with embryonic Zebrafish. Industrial synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles was mimicked at lab scale by high energy ball milling technique by milling bulk ZnO particles for 15 h. Synthesized 7 h and 10 h ZnO nanoparticles showed significant alteration of size, zeta potential and optical properties in comparison to Bulk ZnO. Mortality and hatching rate in Zebrafish embryos were influenced by these alterations. Size an… Show more

“…The conferred molecular interaction was in concomitance with the experimental result and indicated towards the reason of increased apoptosis as influential effect on functionality of tp53 both at mRNA and protein level. Similar effect has been observed in reports related to effect of other nanoparticles like ZnO, AgNP on zebrafish however the identity of biomolecules were found to be different in each case [24]. The depicted results indicated towards the influence of AuNP on other proteins functionality taking part in physiology of zebrafish which was confirmed by the pathway analysis as shown in Figure 12.…”

“…It can be argued that AuNP and CAuNP affect the hatching due to their duel action. Clogging of the pores of chorion and secondly by affecting the functionality of He1a enzyme due to firm interaction with them [24]. Clear indication of clogging effect was evident by the embryos exposed to higher concentration of AuNP.…”

“…The centre of the simulation box was the His82 residue which is the entrance of the ligand access channel, and the size of the box was set to 20 * 20 * 20 Å. The partial atomic charges of lignin peroxidase and atrazine were calculated with the Gasteiger method 39 , 40 . For every lignin peroxidase conformer, the whole docking process contained 255 docking trajectories.…”

“…ZnO was selected for this study because it is a well-studied system for crystal growth from solution 32 44 . The biological and technological significance of ZnO underline its selection 45 48 . Synthesis was carried out by reacting aqueous solutions of 5 mM zinc nitrate ( 1 ) and 50 mM urea ( 2 ).…”
