System reconfiguration is essential in complex systems management, as it is an enabler of system flexibility and adaptability. It ensures system operation and increases reliability, availability, maintainability, testability, safety, and reuse of system entities and technologies. For the reconfiguration of a system in use, it is necessary to assess, in continuity, the system's state with regard to its context. Identifying data supporting system reconfiguration represents a major industrial challenge and is linked directly to the development of industrial reconfiguration tools. Reconfiguration tools are based on a data model, also called ontology, which represents key concepts of system reconfiguration and their relationships. A particular difficulty of developing the data model is the multi-domain nature of reconfiguration. Furthermore, it needs to address a considerable diversity of system types. Few publications propose an ontology supporting data identification and tool development for the entire process. Hence, in this paper we propose to formalize the system reconfiguration process and propose an overarching ontology, which we call OSysRec. This ontology considers data at the management, dynamics, and structure level. The proposed ontology has been developed based upon expert knowledge and several industrial uses cases. The OSysRec ontology allowed a better understanding of the reconfiguration process, and hence it can be deployed for developing efficient and effective reconfiguration tools at the industrial scale. The ontology has been tested on an industrial case study to validate the proposed approach.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) has increased since the middle of the 20th century, as evidenced by its applications to a wide range of engineering and science problems. Air traffic management (ATM) is becoming increasingly automated and autonomous, making it lucrative for AI applications. This paper presents a systematic review of studies that employ AI techniques for improving ATM capability. A brief account of the history, structure, and advantages of these methods is provided, followed by the description of their applications to several representative ATM tasks, such as air traffic services (ATS), airspace management (AM), air traffic flow management (ATFM), and flight operations (FO). The major contribution of the current review is the professional survey of the AI application to ATM alongside with the description of their specific advantages: (i) these methods provide alternative approaches to conventional physical modeling techniques, (ii) these methods do not require knowing relevant internal system parameters, (iii) these methods are computationally more efficient, and (iv) these methods offer compact solutions to multivariable problems. In addition, this review offers a fresh outlook on future research. One is providing a clear rationale for the model type and structure selection for a given ATM mission. Another is to understand what makes a specific architecture or algorithm effective for a given ATM mission. These are among the most important issues that will continue to attract the attention of the AI research community and ATM work teams in the future.

Novel and effective engines for data analysis in integrated information systems are urgently required by diverse applications, in which massive business data can be analyzed to enable the capturing of various situations in real time. The performance of existing engines has limited capacity of data processing in distributed computing. Although Complex Event Processing (CEP) has enhanced the capacity of data analysis in information systems, it is still a big challenging task since events are rapidly increasing in diverse applications. In this paper, a lightweight intelligent data analysis system with a novel CEP engine named LIDA-E is introduced, which employs the knowledge base with rules and an event processing algorithm for analysis. Event models as well as operators support the rules for event selection and aggregation. These operators and rules have been utilized for constructing new CEP system architecture which combines expressiveness and efficiency in analysis. It adopts the agents and filter conception explicitly to provide the event transmission mechanism efficiently. Finally, the comparison between the proposed engine and the existing engine shows that LIDA-E has 48.65% averagely reduced time cost in different tests. The experimental results demonstrate that the developed architecture has better performance in both transmitting and analyzing a large number of events.
