An Easy and Efficient Protocol for the Synthesis of 2,3-Dihydroquinazolinones Using a Low Cost and Reusable Heterogeneous Catalyst

Abstract: Clays revealed high catalytic activity for the synthesis of a series of substituted 2, 3-dihydro-2-phenylquinazolin-4(1H)-one. The synthesis was carried out by reacting Anthranilamide and various substituted aldehydes in acetonitrile at roo m temperature in the presence of a small amount of the catalyst. Several solvents were examined for this reaction; however, in terms of reaction yield and time, Acetonitrile was found to be the optimu m solvent.
