An enhanced cascading failure model integrating data mining technique

Abstract: An enhanced cascading failure model integrating data mining technique is proposed in this paper. In order to better simulate the process of cascading failure propagation and further analyze the relationship between failure chains, in view of a basic framework of cascading failure described in this paper, some significant improvements in emerging prevention and control measures, the subsequent failure search strategy as well as the statistical analysis for the failure chains are made elaborately. Especially, a … Show more

“…On the attack side [1], the aim is to cause large-scale power outage as much as possible, which results in any property loss directly or social disorder indirectly by attacking the critical branches (or nodes) at minimal cost. On the defense side [2], focusing on protecting the critical branches is conducive to reducing the risk of network faults, especially, cascading failures [3], [4].…”

“…Also, recently, artificial intelligence has also been used for investigating catastrophic failures in the power grid. An enhanced cascading failure model was proposed in Sun et al 2017, integrating data mining techniques to simulate the process of cascading failure propagation in better way. However, the above research studies have not discussed adequately regarding methodologies to prevent cascading failures and blackouts.…”
