An Improved Method for the Convergence of Iterative Detection in Turbo-CPM System

Abstract: Based on the decomposed model of continuous phase modulation (CPM), CPM is divided into a continuous phase encoder (CPE) and a memoryless modulator (MM). Using the memorial and recursive character of CPE, combined with turbo code and random interleaver, the model of Turbo-CPM system is founded. In order to solve the problem of positive feedback during iteration with short frame, a method based on weighed extrinsic information exchange is proposed. Theoretic analysis and simulation results show that the propose… Show more

“…The turbo-CPM scheme is discussed in [10], where a constituent encoder with the generator polynomial (10,04,15) in octal representation is employed by turbo. Convolutional coded CPM (CC-CPM) schemes are studied in [23] and [34], where the generator polynomials of CC are (13,06,16) [23] and (11,06,16) [34], respectively.…”

“…(17), it results that the weighted parameter is the key factor that affects performance. Excellent performance has been obtained with values of α ∈ [0.6, 0.9] and β ∈ [0.001, 0.01] in similar coded CPM systems [10,12]. However, the specific α and β values in the system we investigate need to be determined using simulation experiments.…”

“…The serially concatenated CPM schemes combined with convolutional codes [9], [10] or turbo codes [11] can improve power efficiency, and the convergence threshold is much higher than Shannon limit. To improve error performance and bandwidth efficiency, we introduce LDPC coded CPM scheme with iterative decoding and demodulation.…”
