Moreover, this article will consider the contributions of Mainardes and Ball (2011), Lima (2010), Alves-Mazzotti (2003), Masson (2013), among others, in order to analyze the context of dialectical materialism, the impact of positivist approaches, phenomenological and materialist dialectics. The latter especially analyzed with regard to qualitative research. In addition, we seek to understand the epistemological nature of such approaches, considering their possibilities and limitations to the process of scientific knowledge production, as well as to contribute to the field of studies on educational policies consolidation.
