Abstract:This article analyses the impact of the MOOC movement on the Twitter social network. To do so the lexical-semantic impact of 55,511 tweets by ten of the world's leading platforms offering MOOC courses was analysed using a tf-idf calculation to represent documents in natural language processing. The Twitter profiles, patterns of use, and geolocation of tweets by continent were also analysed using computational and statistical techniques. The results show that there is no correlation between use of Twitter accounts by MOOC platforms and their number of followers. The tweets by participants are mainly grouped into two semantic blocks: alert/ excited and calm/relaxed and tweet traffic is often concentrated in the United States and Europe; South America's percentage is moderate while Africa, Asia and Oceania have little impact. The most frequently occurring words in the tweets are: «learning», «skills», «course», «free» and «online».Keywords: MOOC, Twitter, social networks, platforms, tweets, impact. Resumen:Este artículo analiza el impacto del movimiento MOOC en la plataforma Twitter y, para ello, se procesan 55511 tuits según su repercusión léxico-semántica mediante el cálculo de tf-idf para la representación de documentos en Procesamiento de Lenguaje Natural en diez de las principales plataformas mundiales que ofrecen cursos MOOC. Asimismo, se analiza el perfil en Twitter, los patrones de uso y la geolocalización de los tuits por continentes mediante técnicas computacionales y estadísticas. Los resultados muestran que el empleo de las cuentas de Twitter por parte de las plataformas no guarda correlación con el número de seguidores de las mismas. Se enumeran los hitos cimeros de la historia de las Relaciones Públicas en España con la finalidad de comprender su evolución y actual esencia y definición. Analizamos las técnicas de comunicación persuasivas históricamente empleadas que ya podían tildarse como tales (publicidad, propaganda, protocolo, publicity…) cuando aún no se tenía el concepto actual de Relaciones Públicas. En este artículo se presenta una concepción de Relaciones Públicas basada en su finalidad más persuasiva: la de dirigir la opinión pública. No se olvida la otra gran corriente que se centra en la necesaria generación de simpatía y comprensión entre el emisor y los públicos receptores. Así, las Relaciones Públicas son la unión de diversos elementos que conforman su base conceptual y científica: Mercadotecnia, Prospectiva, Publicidad, Propaganda, Publicity, Patrocinio, Mecenazgo, Comunicación corporativa o Corporate, Comunicación interna, Asuntos públicos, Protocolo y Lobbying o cabildeo. Hay dos grandes influencias en la gestación de las Relaciones Públicas: la Publicidad (llamada científica, educativa, social, de prestigio…) y la Propaganda (comercial, colectiva…), por lo que nos centramos en sus padres fundacionales: los profesores y teóricos Pedro Prat Gaballí desde la Publicidad y Francisco García Ruescas desde la Propaganda. Finalmente repasaremos desde los campos del asociacionismo, de la legislación y académico los grandes momentos para el avance de las Relaciones Públicas españolas, pues nuestra finalidad también es crear una cronología lo más completa posible que sirva de base a nuevas investigaciones.

The institutional political crisis is posited to be a great risk facing twenty-first-century societies. The instability of democracy, the increase in misinformation in electoral processes, and distrust by citizens are facts that are confirmed by studies such as The Economist Intelligence Unit (2018) or Freedom in the World (2018). In the context of the most recent US elections (3-Nov-2020), President Donald Trump initiated a dialog focused on an allegation of electoral fraud that mobilized the masses and culminated in an assault on the Capitol. In parallel, Twitter endorses the role of journalism (@ABC, @AP, @CBSNews, @CNN, @FoxNews, @NBCNews, and @Reuters) as a gatekeeper to lies on the Internet. The aim of this study is to determined how the media treated the electoral process on their Twitter accounts, analyze the strategies they followed to combat Trump’s fallacy, and verify the extent to which they contributed or not to the spread of the conspiracy theory. Using a general sample of tweets (n1 = 3,577), we applied a comparative content analysis methodology with a three-pronged approach (quantitative-qualitative-discursive) based on the use of keyword indicators (n2 = 34,430). The results confirm that the media offered verified content on the electoral process, using different sources and avoiding reproduction of Donald Trump’s delegitimization speech. In general, they engaged in a fight against the theory of electoral fraud, against disinformation, and against the polarization of citizens, which are factors that have marked a scenario of doubt about the future of democracy.
