Laju pertumbuhan penduduk yang semakin meningkat berbanding lurus dengan peningkatan timbulan sampah yang tentunya dapat menimbulkan pencemaran lingkungan dan masalah kesehatan. Banjarbakula merupakan kawasan yang terdiri dari Kota Banjarmasin, Kota Banjarbaru, Kabupaten Banjar, Kabupaten Barito Kuala, dan Kabupaten Tanah Laut. Untuk mengatasi persoalan persampahan di kawasan Banjarbakula, Dinas Pekerjaan Umum Penataan Ruang Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan melaksanakan perencanaan Tempat Pengolahan Sampah Terpadu (TPST) di Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA) Regional Banjarbakula, Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan sebagai upaya pengurangan volume sampah sebelum dibuang ke TPA dengan program 3R. Tahapan perencanaan TPST ini dimulai dari tahap persiapan, survei lapangan, pengkajian berupa sumber sampah, wilayah perencanaan dan pelayanan, perencanaan teknis pengelolaan sampah di TPST, serta desain TPST. Rencana teknis operasional pengelolaan sampah terdiri dari penerimaan dan pembongkaran sampah, pemilahan sampah, pengepakan sampah, pencacahan dan pengayakan sampah, peuyeumisasi menjadi RDF/SRF, pengeringan dan pengepresan, penyimpanan dan pendistribusian. Luas rencana TPST Banjarbakula sesuai perencanaan yakni 3456 m2. TPST Regional Banjarbakula direncanakan hanya bisa mengolah sampah sebesar 40 ton/hari atau 160 m3/hari. Pengolahan sampah di TPST Regional Banjarbakula menggunakan metode peuyeumisasi menjadi RDF/SRF dan dipadatkan dalam bentuk briket.

The leakage of temple waste in the environment surrounding the temples has made the image of temples not only a cultural icon but also a contributor to landfill waste on the island. About 292.36 kg of temple waste is generated from a single ceremonial at Griya Anyar Tanah Kilap Temple. The temple waste consists of 90,16% of organic waste (food, leaf and discarded flower) that is easily biodegraded. This research aimed to examine the temple waste to be recycled into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF). Leaf and flower waste are used as RDF material using two different drying methods, namely natural drying and pyrolysis. The results showed that the pyrolysis RDF has a similar caloric value to the natural drying RDF with 3311.7 kcal/kg and 2912.7 kcal/kg, respectively. According to the electrical power potential, pyrolysis RDF has 3856.19 kWh/tons, meanwhile natural drying RDF has 3391.59 kWh/tons. The pyrolysis RDF has less organic content and quite higher ash content than the natural drying RDF, making it better quality and appropriate to be applied in the community for a long-term sustainable temple waste recycling.

This study aims to evaluate the potential of inorganic waste as an energy source at TPS 3R Kasih (Indonesian waste management facility), a waste management site currently facing challenges with effective solid waste segregation. A comprehensive assessment was performed by analyzing heap size, waste composition, density, and energy potential through proximate and ultimate tests. The findings revealed that the site generates an average of 12.34 tons of waste per week, with inorganic waste accounting for 23.28%. Further examination of this inorganic waste, comprising of Hard Plastic (3.18%), Ordinary Plastic (10.97%), Paper/Carton (6.84%), Rubber/Fabric (3.65%), and Wood (2.30%), indicated its significant potential as Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) fluff. Upon processing, the RDF fluff presented a calorific value of 4,708 Kcal/kg, Moisture of 2.1%, Ash Content of 3.7%, and Volatile Matter of 85.2%. These characteristics make it a potential alternative fuel source for the cement industry. The study concludes that effective waste segregation and processing at TPS 3R Kasih could transform inorganic waste into a valuable energy source, highlighting the significant implications for waste-to-energy strategies and the reduction of dependency on fossil fuels.
