Analyse cytogénétique du complexeAnopheles gambiaedans la région de Bobo-Dioulasso (Burkina Faso)

Abstract: RÉSUMÉ. Cinq inversions … Show more

“…Mopti population forms were dominant in permanent waters in the irrigated area, whereas savannah forms were dominant in temporary shallow waters of lowland and rocky highland areas. This finding is similar to observations in some parts of Burkina Faso where the M form was common in the centre of rice fields, but at the edges of irrigated areas, the S form was more dominant (Robert et al. 1989).…”

“…gambiae to man is indicated not only by its specific man biting and indoor resting behaviour but also by its peculiar heliophilic (Coluzzi, Petrarca & Di Deco, 1985). Within this process, the Mopti chromosomal form appears to be one of the most recent evolutionary steps in view of its association with dry season irrigation Coluzzi, 1983, 1987 andin preparation;Petrarca et al, 1986;Robert et al, 1989;Akogbeto et al, 19.92). The recent origin of the taxon is also supported by its distribution which is limited to the upper Niger River basin and does not (yet) extend to other ecologically suitable irrigated dry areas, neither westward to the Senegal and Gambia river basins nor eastward to the lake Chad zone and to the Nile River basin (Bryan et al, 1982;Petrarca et al, 1986;Petrarca, Vercruysse & Coluzzi, 1987;Petrarca et al, in preparation Tour6 et al,in preparation).…”

“…Such ecological flexibility of An. gambiae Mopti has been attributed to its 2R inversion polymorphism bc/u/+ (Tour6, Petrarca & Coluzzi, 1983Petrarca et al, 1986;Robert et al, 1989).…”
