Analysis of Corneal Aberration of the Human Eye

Abstract: In this work, we analyze the human eye corneal aberrations based on the data obtained in the Branchevski's eye clinic. The analysis is performed on the basis of representation of aberrations as a superposition of Zernike functions. As the result of the analysis, we selected the Zernike basis functions which are the most characteristic for some pathologies of the eye.

“…Based on the data obtained, an analysis of aberrations of the cornea of the human eye was carried out [ 53 ]. As a result, the basic Zernike functions were identified, which are most characteristic of some pathologies of the cornea (myopia of various degrees), the compensation of which leads to an improvement in the quality of the formed image.…”

“…Based on the data obtained in the eye clinic, in the form of weight coefficients (the first 15 basis functions) of the Zernike polynomials of the anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea, the averaged values for a healthy eye were calculated ( Figure 1 ). It should be noted that the weight coefficients of the Zernike polynomials have different signs for most pronounced canonical aberrations on the anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea, which leads to partial intracorneal compensation of the aberrations [ 53 ]. Therefore, there is no need to compensate them by changing the heights of the anterior surface of the cornea.…”

“…Анализ информативности весовых коэффициентов В исследовании использовались данные, полученные в глазной клинике Бранчевского, как для условно здоровых людей (без выраженных патологий как на зрачке, так и на хрусталике), так и с определёнными патологиями, в частности, с миопией слабой и средней степени. В работе [20] был произведён статистический анализ на основе выборки из 150 измерений. Были выделены базисные функции Цернике, наиболее характерные для некоторых патологий глаза.…”
