Analysis of Environmental Vulnerability in The Landslide Areas (Case Study: Semarang Regency)

Abstract: Abstract. The Land conversion can increase the risk of landslide disaster in Semarang Regency caused by human activity. Remote sensing and geographic information system to be used in this study to mapping the landslide areas because satellite image data can represent the object on the earth surface in wide area coverage. Satellite image Landsat 8 is used to mapping land cover that processed by supervised classification method. The parameters to mapping landslide areas are based on land cover, rainfall, slope, … Show more

“…Also, a study by Mosaffaie et al (2023) analyzed potential resources that were potentially exposed to landslide. Nevertheless, some vulnerability studies were conducted partially, for example (1) physical vulnerability that assessed landslide intensity and building vulnerability (Tiwari et al, 2022); (2) social vulnerability that described disparities in social groups, based on socio-economic indicators (Nor Diana et al, 2021;Sangeeta & Maheshwari, 2022;Wang et al, 2022); and (3) environmental vulnerability that examined land cover aspects (Hani'ah et al, 2017).…”

“…On the other hand, the surface process, which is the interaction between the troposphere and the lithosphere will directly affect humans being. In some literature, lithology is one of the factors that cause landslides and is a parameter in arranging vulnerability and landslide susceptibility maps [2], [3], [4], [14][15], [16], [17].…”

“…Several studies on landslides in Semarang City with various topics have been carried out. Among them were carried out in the period between 2017 to 2021 by Hani'ah et al [2], Yulianto et al [3] [4], Supriyadi et al [5], Tjahjono et al [6], Khumaedi et al [7], Ansrory et al [8], Rahman et al [9], Ardinugroho and Handayani [10], Astuti et al [11], and Hidayatillah et al [12]. From this research, no one has discussed the relationship between lithology and landslides.…”

“…Landslide disasters in the Kendal Ngisor village occured in the slopes of Mount Kelir in 2015 and in early 2016. This disaster caused a fatality and a damage to arable lands and the roads to the community lands [3]. According to the Semarang Regency Public Works Agency (DPU), the landslides that occurred in this area were because the geological structure in the Kendal Ngisor village is in the form of a fracture structure located on andesite rocks.…”
