Analysis of linkage relationships of Co, Jk and K with each other and with chromosome 2 loci ACP1 and Km

Abstract: Linkage analyses of locus pairs involving A C P l , Co, J k , K and K m indicate: probable linkage between Go and J k ( 8 = + 3.80 a t 4 = 0.29) ; possible linkage between J k and Km ( 2 = + 1-93 a t 8 = 0-30); a mild hint of linkage between Co and K ( 2 = + 1-01 at 8 = 0 3 0 ) ; inadequate information for Co : Krn linkage; inconclusive resultg for loose linkage between ACPl and Co ; absence of detectable linkage for K : J k , K : Km, ACPl J k , ACPl : K and ACPl : K m . The compiled information does not allow… Show more

“…A large marker spectrum was tested by conventional methods and by using commercially available reagents. Linkage studies were performed by the LI PED 3 computer program of Ott [1974], Table I gives our lod scores in a threeline presentation (see legend to table I) to gether with the available lod scores of the Committee Report of the 8th Human gene Mapping Conference [Povey et al, 1985] or, otherwise, with those of Lewis et al [1982], Our findings confirm and extend the absence of linkage between the IGK and KEL as well as between the JK and KEL loci. But, on the other hand, our data can hardly be considered as support for the possible 1GK:JK, JK:CO and CO:KEL linkages.…”

“…sources could not exclude all the doubts on the JK, CO and KEL assignments to chromosome 2 [Lewis et al, 1982;Povey et al, 1985]. The recent discovery of Geitvik et al [1986] on close linkage between the J K locus and the genomic probe L 2.7 (z = 8.46, 0 = 0.05) must therefore be consid ered of great importance for the definite JK gene localisation.…”

“…Where a reference to a previous HGM meeting is given this refers to the committee report in which the original references for the gene assignment can be found. The data on which these lod scores are based are contained in or can be found from the following: Keats et al 1979;Keats 1981;Field et al (HGM7); Lewis et al 1982Lewis et al , 1984Greiner et al 1983;Field et al HGM8, and Keats' unpublished lod scores calculated from HGAR pedigrees (Keats personal communication).…”
