Analysis of the effectiveness of the systems protecting against the impact of water damming in the river on the increase of groundwater level on the example of the Malczyce dam

Abstract: The aim of the article is to determine to what extent individual elements of the project protecting the village of Rzeczyca and adjacent areas against flooding after the planned damming up of water in the Odra on the Malczyce dam. The assessment of the impact of damming on the nearby towns was made using a mathematical model based on a two-dimensional and non-stationary version of the Boussinesq equation and the finite element method (FEM). In the simulations, the proprietary FIZ software was used for calculat… Show more

“…This combination offers an opportunity to model or reconstruct the data to achieve mid-range forecasts. Stochastic modeling often requires large datasets to be performing [43] at time scales where the deterministic approach is not effective [44]. Air temperature data reconstruction was made via methods for non-stationary time series.…”

“…Meteorological conditions are key factors in many areas of human activity such as agriculture, transport, power engineering, insurance and risk assessment [1], industrial and marketing planning [2], tourism, sport, mass events [3,4], national security, and many more where atmospheric conditions may have a direct or indirect impact [5][6][7][8]. Besides the financial and safety relevance of meteorological and hydrological datasets [9], this kind of information is very often crucial to reliably answer a scientific problem [10], which heavily relies on the quality of meteorological dataset used in this kind of research.…”
