“…Bliss & Branch (1960) measured blood sugar in 5 cases of anorexia nervosa and found values between 2.6 and 4.6 mmol/l, while Bartels (1946) found only one of 7 cases to have a fasting blood sugar (3.1 mmol/l) below 3.9 mmol/l. One patient previously reported (Bruckner et al 1938) did have a fasting blood sugar as low as 1.4mmol/I but she, in common with the other cases, had no symptoms of hypoglycaemia.…”
