“…Moreover, T. asiatica whole plant has been used along with Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellirica, Eclipta alba, Enicostemma littorale in a polyherbal formulation for the treatment of diabetes (Hemalatha et al, 2006). Flindersine (Duraipandiyan and Ignacimuthu, 2009), hexacosanoic acid and b-sitosterol from leaves (Muthumani et al, 2010), two new geranyloxycoumarins, namely 7-geranyloxy-5-methoxycoumarin and 8-geranyloxy-5, 7-dimethoxycoumarin from twigs (Wang et al, 2009), ulopterol from leaves (Karunai Raj et al, 2012), nitidine from root bark, toddasin, toddanol, toddanone, toddalenone and toddalidimerine from roots have been isolated from T. asiatica. Our preliminary studies revealed that the ethyl acetate extract of T. asiatica showed significant oral glucose tolerance and antidiabetic effects when compared with hexane and methanol extracts; hence phytochemical screening, total phenolic content and HPLC analysis of ethyl acetate extract were carried out.…”
