Application of concentrated growth factors in reconstruction of bone defects after removal of large jaw cysts: The two cases report

Abstract: Application of fibrin rich blocks containing CGF is one of the possible methods for reconstruction of bone defects. CGF can be applied alone or mixed with a bone graft. The method is relatively simple, without risk of transmissible and allergic diseases and economically feasible.

“…CGFs are applicable alone or when mixed with bone graft material. Application of piezoelectric, CGF sticky bone and membrane is therefore one of the most current methods for reconstruction of bone defects in the maxillary sinus area [4,8,19]. Additional use of PBM further enhances the prospect of clinical success.…”

“…Due to these facts the regenerative potential of CGF increases and promotes tissue healing. It is important to use methods which stabilize the clot and thereby decrease the risk of wound healing impairment [8]. As is commonly known, wound healing is a combined process, supported by growth factors released from blood platelets.…”

“…In our everyday clinical practice, we face a relatively large number of patients presenting with a substantial deficit of the residual alveolar ridge due to the loss of single or several teeth who require implant-prosthetic treatment. In such situations, the augmentation of lost bony structures is indicated in order to provide optimal conditions for dental implant placement and subsequent prosthetic rehabilitation [1]. Nowadays, a whole range of modern surgical procedures and a variety of dental materials for reconstruction of bony defects of the upper and lower jaws and for the augmentation of lost structu-Summary Introduction.…”
