Application of Machine Vision Technique in Plate Camber Control System

Abstract: In plate rolling, the existence of some asymmetry rolling conditions, affects the distribution of transversal thickness of rolling pieces, leading to the occurrence of camber phenomenon, which in turn seriously affect the product's material yield. In this paper, based on the images of plates in the production line collected by camera, taking into account the requirements for on-line measurement, filtering noise from image information, use edge detection operator, Hough transform methods and sub pixel edge loca… Show more

“…Many researchers use laser detection or machine vision to detect the camber of steel plates. [16][17][18] In order to solve the camber problem of rolling piece in hot strip rolling process, Ben et al 19) proposed a tracking and measuring system of rolling piece camber based on double vision system, which greatly improved the accuracy of rolling piece side bending. Schausberger et al 20) proposed a method of capturing plate image sequence by thermal imaging measuring device, which can be used to estimate the actual camber of strip steel and control it by feedback optimization.…”

“…One difficulty with and the key to controlling the slab camber is to develop a mathematical control model suitable for hot rolling production. According to the movement characteristics of the strip when camber has occurred, the theoretical formula for predicting the bending ratio of the slab has been derived by He [9], and a method for predicting the slab camber in the plate rolling process is proposed by coupling the influence function method and the theoretical formula for camber. By analysing the asymmetrical rolling process, Qwamizadeh et al [10] designed a prediction mode for calculating slab curvature based on the tangential and normal strain distribution on both sides of the slab.…”
