This study analysed the effect of agglomeration on profits, and price efficiency. This study was carried out in and outside the Production Central Area (PCA) of Payakumbuh. Sixty-seven breeders in Payakumbuh PCA and 67 breeders outside Payakumbuh PCA were involved. Multiple linear regression was used for analysis. The results showed that there were two agglomeration profits in PCA: large scale economies (SE) and localization economies (LE). Urbanization economies (UE) were not found. The agglomeration profits had a significant effect on price efficiency. The difference in business location between PCA and outside PCA had no significant effect. The establishment of a PCA should take into account the agglomeration profits, which can be profitable for entrepreneurs with lower production and transportation costs due to the use of shared facilities. It is important to equip the PCA with supporting infrastructure to develop livestock business with the aim to reduce production costs, and make output competitive.

The objective of this study was to compare the factors related to the development stage and the level of competitiveness of the furniture cluster located in the northwestern region of Paraná / Brazil. For the development of the research, descriptive approaches with quantitative and qualitative procedures were used. As a data collection instrument, a cross-sectional survey was applied with 20 companies in the sector. The data were interpreted from a statistical analysis using the average of the relative frequencies. The results indicated that the competitiveness index is unfavorable and the cluster is in initial stage, pointing out fragility, mainly in the item government policies.

The objective of this research is to evaluate the relationships of the network formed by the important milk cluster in the city of Umuarama, State of Parana (PR)/BRAZIL, using the Social Network Analysis (SNA) focusing on the collective gains and competitive advantages of this cluster. The methodology used was qualitative and quantitative. Questionnaires were applied to the network for the characterization of the existing relationships between them, and also to present the analysis of network measures using the UCINET software and the graphics schemes of networks. It was found that this milk production network appears to be diffuse, and that there are few solid relationships, which have no central coordination; the network did not present governance relationships nor a defined empowerment with significant transaction costs relationships. The relevance of this paper is to present a procedure of study in networks that can be reproduced in future researches.
