Array resource allocation for radar and communication integration network

Abstract: A radar and communication integration (RCI) system has great flexibility in allocating antenna resources to guarantee both radar and communication performance. This paper considers the array allocation problems for multiple target localization and multiple platforms communication in an RCI network. The objective of array allocation is to maximize the communication capacity for each channel and to minimize the localization error for each target. In this paper, we firstly build a localization and communication m… Show more

“…With the progress of modern information and intelligence, the integration of radar and communication (IRC) has attracted much attention because of its ability to improve hardware efficiency and spectrum utilization. The IRC can alleviate the problems of large system size, heavy weight, high cost, and complex operation caused by many electronic devices on the same platform, and achieve the universality and versatility of the system [1][2][3]. In addition, as 5G evolves to 6G at the technical and service levels, many fields such as intelligent driving [4], UAV network [5], indoor and outdoor sensing, and positioning [6] are also booming.…”

“…The former often works in low-speed scenarios, while the latter applies high-speed scenarios. The research contents of IRC mainly include the design of integrated waveform [5], radar and communication power allocation of integrated waveform [6], and radar and communication processing of integrated echo signal [7]. The first two methods are realized at the transmitting end, and the last one is implemented at the receiving end.…”

“…For example, a MIMO system was considered to maximize the sum rate while guaranteeing the localization performance [2]. The authors in [3] studied a radar and communication integration system to degrade the positioning error and improve the capacity of channels. Although the above-mentioned works can provide both localization and communication services and reduce resource overheads, some key issues remain to be further discussed: how to guarantee localization and communication services when the line-of-sight (LOS) link is completely blocked; how to simultaneously improve localization and communication performance with limited resources.…”
