“…Often the exact pathogenesis of sinus tarsi syndrome, first described by O'Connor in 1958, 18 relates to nonspecific pain and instability 19,20 in the sinus tarsi region, especially when walking on uneven surfaces. 21 The accuracy of labeling a person with sinus tarsi syndrome was questioned in a study by Frey et al, 22 in which 14 patients who had a preoperative diagnosis of sinus tarsi syndrome had their diagnosis changed postoperatively. Of the 14 patients, they found that 10 had tears of the interosseous ligament, 2 had arthrofibrosis, and 2 had degenerative joints.…”
