Aspectos agronômicos e bromatológicos de leguminosas forrageiras no Nordeste Brasileiro

Abstract: SUMMARYThe aim of this work was to evaluate the agronomic and bromatologic aspects of nine herbaceous forage legumes. Legumes studied included C. ternatea L., D. heterocarpon (L.) DC. subsp. ovalifolium (Prain) Ohashi cv. Itabela, A. pintoi Krap and Greg. cv. Amarillo, Pueraria phaseoloides (Roxb.) Benth, S. guianensis (Aubl.) Sw. cv. Bandeirante, cv. Cook and cv. Mineirão and Stylosanthes macrocephala Ferreira e Sousa Costa cv. Pioneiro. The following response variables were measured: soil cover, plant height… Show more

“…According to Van Soest (1982), the higher the content of NDF, the lower the intake of dry matter, and the higher the content of ADF, the lower its digestibility. Teixeira et al (2010), in a study with A. pintoi cv. Amarillo, found values between the minimal and the maximal values of this study for contents of cellulose (16.1%), hemicellulose (16.0%) and lignin (9.9%) in a harvesting performed 102 days after transplanting.…”

“…The leaf/stem ratio exerts great influence with regard to animal nutrition. Teixeira et al (2010) report that the leaf/stem ratio existing in a legume may interfere with the forage intake by animals, as they prefer to feed on more tender material and of better nutritional value, in this case, the leaves. Araújo et al (2008) state that the behavior of a forage plant results from the interaction of its genetic potential with the environment.…”
