Assesment of ovarian stromal artery Doppler characteristics and serum hormone levels in patients with Behçet's Disease

Abstract: CONCLUSIONOvarian stromal artery Doppler parameters of patients with BD did not show any significant differences compared to healthy controls. Therefore, we conclude that ovarian stromal artery is not involved in patients with BD as assessed by transvaginal Doppler ultrasound and serum hormone levels do not differ from the levels of healthy controls.

“…Only one study published in the literature analyzes ovarian artery Doppler sonography in BD. In that study, Cil et al found that the ovarian artery Doppler sonographic characteristics did not show any significant difference compared with controls (18). Also, hormonal parameters and ovarian volumes were similar between BD patients and controls.…”

“…There are some studies available in the literature regarding this subject. In one of these studies Çil et al found no significant difference in terms of hormone levels between the Behcet and control groups [10]. However in another study, Proençha et al reported that serum prolactin levels were significantly higher in BD patients versus controls [11].…”

“…of its low cost, low recurrence rate, microinvasiveness, and repeatability. Gynecologic applications and studies of contrast-enhanced sonography have primarily focused on uterine and ovarian solid tumors and hydrotubation 9,10 ; however, to our knowledge, this technique has not been applied to ovarian endometrial cysts, even though contrastenhanced sonography is the best imaging method for detecting microvasculature. [11][12][13][14] In this study, contrastenhanced sonography was used to image ovarian endometrial cysts before and after interventional treatment.…”
