Este estudo inovador investiga a adoção e implementação do Building Information Modeling (BIM) no Distrito Federal (DF), no Brasil, preenchendo uma lacuna importante no conhecimento local sobre esta tecnologia emergente na indústria da construção. O objetivo principal é fornecer um panorama da adoção do BIM, levando em conta a cultura local, legislação, infraestrutura tecnológica, recursos humanos e fatores econômicos. Mediante a aplicação de questionários a profissionais qualificados, obtivemos dados valiosos sobre a atual situação do BIM no DF. Este estudo destaca obstáculos e dificuldades que impedem uma adoção mais ampla, e o estudo propõe estratégias para superar esses desafios, incluindo a colaboração entre instituições acadêmicas, governamentais e setor privado. As estratégias também englobam programas de capacitação, compartilhamento de melhores práticas e desenvolvimento de ferramentas e recursos adaptados ao contexto local. Com um olhar detalhado sobre as tendências atuais e futuras, bem como as características dos profissionais e empresas envolvidas, este estudo oferece contribuições significativas para o aprimoramento e difusão do BIM no DF, e é uma leitura essencial para pesquisadores, profissionais e legisladores interessados em promover a adoção do BIM na região local.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is one of the most advanced developments in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry that can generate a 3D virtual information model which can be used for planning, design, construction, and operations. As Building Information Modelling (BIM) approaches the construction industry as a new technology and process, changes in the industry have created some barriers to BIM adoption in Malaysia. This research aims to enhance the implementation of BIM in the construction stage of Sarawak's construction industry by identifying and classifying the critical barriers. This study fills this current knowledge gap and enhances the understanding of BIM in the construction stage and the factors that hinder implementation in Sarawak. To develop the challenges being faced in this industry, a set of barrier clusters based on people, process, policy, technology, and cost were pre-identified through a literature review, and a structured interview involving three BIM experts was conducted on WebEx to refine these barriers with the current industry situation. As an outcome, this study identified 49 of the barriers from the literature and refined them into 26 of the barriers under their main clusters. Interestingly, they all validated the fact that lack of government involvement in BIM implementation is an undeniable barrier factor to growing BIM utilization and reaching its full potential. This study will form the basis of further research, and additional studies focusing on prioritizing these identified barriers for strategic planning would help the construction players in their swift transformation to BIM.

The construction industry has seen an increase in Artificial Intelligence(AI) in recent years, a paradigm shift in many industries. It puts under pressure for technological advancement. Therefore, AI is under great attention in the construction industry as a new strategic paver. This paper adopts a systematic literature review (SLR) approach and followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to observe and understand the influencing factors and strategies for AI adoption. The SLR for AI-related research carried out between 2010 and 2020. Data was collected from ASCE Journals, Emerald Insight, Elsevier ScienceDirect, Engineering Village, Google Scholar, ICE virtual library, IOPscience, IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, Scopus, SpringerLink and Taylor & Francis. The paper identifies and classifies the new developments in AI research, making its implementation and adoption a reality in the construction industry. This review has the potential for construction industry stakeholders, especially those in developing countries, to utilise the accumulated evidence from selected systematic reviews to enable the usage of AI for infrastructure development
