Free radicals can caused damage cell and tissue which lead to various disease then needed antioxidant as radicals scavenging. The objective of this study was to determine antioxidants activity leaves of Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.) Roxb based to DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrilhydrazil) free radicals scavenging. The study was initiated with sample extraction by maceration used ethanol then partitioned with ethyl acetate. The obtained fraction tested to antioxidant activity DPPH radicals. Testing done in five series concentration is 50 ppm, 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm and 400 ppm, which compared to antioxidant activity vitamin C and BHT (butylatedhydroxytoluene). Activity against free radicals is measured with at a spectrophotometer UV-VIS wavelength 517 nm and calculated value ES50. The result showed the value ES50 of a leaves ethyl acetate fraction of 1473 ppm while ES50 vitamin C and BHT of 9.054 ppm and 29.067 ppm, respectively. Therefore, obtained results showed that ethyl acetate fraction Scaevola taccada (Gaertn.) Roxb leaves has weak activity compared vitamin C and BHT as positive control with ES50 values respectively 1473.064 ppm, 9.054 ppm and 29.067 ppm.

In the present work, a systematic study on the comparative in-vitro antioxidant activity of aqueous extracts of seven locally available cultivars of unripe mango ( Mangifera indica L.) fruits was performed. Our study clearly demonstrates that despite different colors, tastes, and appearance, each of these cultivars is a rich source of dietary antioxidants, e.g., polyphenols, flavonoids, and ascorbic acid, but the contents of these active components vary with change of the mango cultivars. Moreover, for the first time we have explored Au nanoparticle formation potential of mango to measure its antioxidant activity.

Introduction: All parts of the mango plant contain secondary metabolites that possess several beneficial properties. In the present study, evaluation of in vitro anti-oxidant, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activities of five Indian cultivars of mango fruit peel extracts were carried out.Methods: Different solvent (hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol) extracts of five Indian cultivars of mango fruit peels were prepared by using soxhalate, and the aqueous extract was prepared by maceration. In vitro anti-oxidant activities of these extracts were determined by using 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), 2,2′-azinobis 3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS), hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and nitric oxide (NO) radical scavenging methods. Their anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activities were determined by agar-well diffusion and HRBC (human red blood cell) methods, respectively.Results: All the five mango peel extracts showed good anti-oxidant activities, especially the methanolic extract of peel of Sindhura cultivar showed better IC50 values of DPPH (21.62±1.82 μg/mL), ABTS (21.33±1.94 μg/mL), H2O2 (19.87±2.61 μg/mL) and NO (57.29±2.17 μg/mL) radical scavenging activities than other extracts. It also possessed higher contents of phenolics (169.18±3.28 mg of GAE/g) and flavonoids (26.18±1.84 mg of QE/g) than the other extracts. All peel extracts of five cultivars of mango fruit revealed good anti-microbial activities against bacterial and fungal cultures and also possessed significant anti-inflammatory activity.Conclusion: The present study revealed that all the mango peel extracts have potential antioxidant activity, as well as better anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activities.
