“…Homogenization of sites that switched from Brewer Mast type ozonesondes to ECC ozonesondes include Uccle (Lemoine & De Backer, 2001) and Payerne Aerological Station . Dual and multiple ozonesonde flight data 25 at Sodanklyä were used to homogenize data and evaluate trends from different Arctic ozonesonde sites (Kivi et al, 2007).…”

“…(1998a) could lower the ozone differences of 26 dual soundings at Uccle to within 3 % over almost the entire altitude range, while Lemoine and De Backer (2001) could reduce the drift between SAGE II and ozonesondes from −0.51 to −0.07 % yr −1 between 17 and 22 km with non-significant values at the 2σ level at all altitudes. The above described procedure for the pump efficiency correction and total ozone normalisation makes up the largest difference with the so-called standard corrections or the O3S-DQA corrections (for ECC sondes).…”

“…The impact of the PRESTO correction is lowest in the lower stratosphere (around 20 % ozone increase) and increases again from the ozone maximum to reach again 30 % in the upper parts of the sounding. The PRESTO post-processing steps have been developed based on simulation chamber tests, double soundings, and the comparison of ascent and descent profiles and have been validated against reference satellite data (SAGE II; Lemoine and De Backer, 2001). …”

“…Given the high vertical resolution, ozonesondes are the most suitable instrument to study laminated structures in the lower stratosphere. A complete comparison between Uccle ozone profiles and SAGE II ozone profiles was performed by Lemoine and De Backer (2001).…”
