Abstract: Although subject to future confirmation, our data suggest that Lp-PLA2 levels are elevated in NAFLD.

“…Fads expression has been found to be negatively associated with hepatic fat content, and FADS can suppress the accumulation of hepatic lipids . In addition, YZH liquid decreased the expression levels of Pla2 family members, which are upstream checkpoints regulating fatty acid uptake that are upregulated in patients with NASH . The knockout of Pla2 has been proven to achieve a 56.5% decrease in fatty acid influx in hepatocytes .…”

“…The sPLA 2 is one of the main factors associated with progression of inflammatory disease (e.g. cardiovascular disease) and the serum level of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A 2 was found to be elevated in NAFLD [7]. The enzyme plays a role by the activation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) oxygenation and recruitment of macrophages to the atherosclerotic plaque [6].…”

“…The role of sPLA 2 during progression of inflammation in NAFLD is practically unknown. However, lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A 2 was recently characterized as a novel inflammatory biomarker that is correlated with several components constituting the metabolic syndrome [7].…”

“…Therefore, additional studies that determine the effects of Lp‐PLA2 inhibition alone or in combination with periodontal treatments on the risk of CVD in CP patients are valuable for the control of CVD. Additionally, both positive and negative associations between plasma Lp‐PLA2 levels and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) were demonstrated in epidemiological studies, and Lp‐PLA2 seemingly protected subjects against the initiation and progression of NAFLD . However, considering the observation that lysoPC administration could induce hepatitis in vivo, contrary to the protective role of Lp‐PLA2, further investigations using a longitudinal design is necessary to identify the cause.…”
