Malukat is a cleansing process that aims to achieve spiritual purification and mental clarity for spiritual progress. The belief of the Balinese people that mental disorders or illnesses are one of “dirts” that occur in the human body so that malukat plays a major role in handling mental illness culturally in Bali. This is also able to reduce stigma in the community in Bali about mental illness. The research design is a literature review. Modern man when experiencing shock or stress will experience very rapid psychological changes that make them fall into uncertainty so that they choose a way out without logic that ends in mental disorders. Many modern men turn to psychic powers, they begin to recognize the existence of psychic powers and try to find them. Emotional pain is the main cause of physical pain and physical illness. Malukat ritual for physical and spiritual cleansing to restore balance of the sick soul or spiritual pain. Malukat causes a balance of work between sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves so as to reduce psychic stress and also reduce psychic and physical pain. Aromatherapy helps the body relax so that sympathetic and parasympathetic balance can be maintained properly. ABSTRAKMalukat merupakan proses pembersihan yang bertujuan untuk mencapai pemurnian spiritual dan kejernihan mental untuk kemajuan rohani. Keyakinan masyarakat Bali bahwa gangguan atau penyakit mental merupakan salah satu “leteh” yang terjadi dalam tubuh manusia sehingga malukat ini berperan besar dalam penanganan penyakit mental secara budaya di Bali. Malukat ini juga mampu mengurangi stigma pada masyarakat di Bali tentang penyakit mental. Desain penelitian ini adalah tinjauan pustaka atau literature review. Manusia modern saat mengalami guncangan atau stres akan mengalami perubahan psikologis yang sangat cepat yang membuat mereka terjerumus ke dalam ketidakpastian sehingga memilih jalan keluar tanpa logika yang berakhir dengan gangguan mental. Manusia modern banyak yang beralih pada kekuatan psikis, mereka mulai mengakui adanya kekuatan psikis dan berusaha mencarinya. Rasa sakit emosional yang menjadi penyebab utama rasa sakit fisik dan penyakit fisik. Ritual malukat untuk pembersihan jasmani dan rohani untuk mengembalikan keseimbangan dari jiwa yang sakit atau spiritual pain. Malukat menyebabkan keseimbangan kerja antara saraf simpatis dan parasimpatis sehingga mampu mengurangi stres psikis dan juga mengurangi nyeri psikis serta nyeri fisik. Aromaterapi membantu tubuh menjadi relaks sehingga keseimbangan simpatis dan parasimpatis mampu terjaga dengan baik.

This study explores the educational significance of purity in Balinese ritual practices and religious leadership development. Purity is a central concept in the Āgama Tīrtha religion of Bali, which is a unique blend of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Tantra. The study uses autoethnography as its methodology to understand the strength of the Balinese beliefs and the impact of ritual practices on education and leadership development. The study focuses on the water purification ceremony (Upacara Melukat), which is of central importance to the daily Sūrya-Sevana, worship of the sun. The study examines the impact of purity, pollution, anomaly, and taboo on Balinese gender roles, traditions, ceremonies, and religious leadership. It argues that the need for purity is the motivator for rigidity in Balinese society and religious leadership and that purity ideals could also be behind other biases. The study concludes that the motivation behind the rules and taboos observed and documented is the preservation of the very Balinese identity. This study contributes to the existing knowledge in the field of Balinese ritual practices, faith-based healing traditions, and religious leadership development.

Objective: This research was conducted with the aim of conducting a study on the sustainability of tourism in Bali, exploring the reasons for how Bali maintains its existence as a leading tourist destination, amid the challenges and obstacles faced, associated with the tourism life cycle model proposed by Butler. This research focuses on how tourism can adapt to the changes that occur. This is also the novelty of this research, which provides a description of how a tourist area that is already in the superior stage continues to maintain its status and existence, while adapting to the changes that occur. The novelty in this research includes a holistic approach that not only emphasizes economic benefits, but also social, cultural, and environmental aspects to maintain the sustainability of tourism and the preservation of local culture. Theoretical Framework: This research focus on tourism communication using model TALC by Butler. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. Researchers chose a qualitative approach and phenomenological method with the aim of being able to describe and analyze the direct experiences of the interviewees related to tourism life in Bali. Qualitative research allows researchers to explore the subjective experiences of the interviewees. Results and Discussion: Based on the research results, it was concluded that Bali tourism is now in the sixth stage of Butler's TALC cycle model, namely decline or revitalization. Problems such as pollution, environmental damage, and the loss of local Balinese cultural values have the potential to accelerate the decline if not addressed properly. However, revitalization efforts have begun, with local and national governments starting to pay attention to the development of sustainable tourism. Programs to preserve the environment, maintain cultural balance, and limit development in sensitive areas have begun to be implemented. In addition, community-based tourism development has also been introduced to empower local communities and maintain Balinese cultural values. Research Implications: Bali's existence as a tourist destination will continue to live as long as the Balinese people continue to apply their local cultural values and practices in their daily lives. These local cultural values and practices remain a magnet for attracting tourists to come and visit Bali, coupled with innovation and revitalization to continue to preserve local culture in Bali. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature of tourism communication theory by examing the implementation of model TALC by Butler.
